Robot + Super Gun = 'Crowd Control'
By Noah Shachtman May 27, 2008 1:49:00 PM

What do you do with a robot armed with a million-round-per-minute gun? "Crowd control," naturally. For several months, Metal Storm, the troubled electronic gun developer, has been working with iRobot -- the makers of military machines and cute, semi-autonomous vacuum cleaners -- to arm some of their new, 250-pound unmanned ground vehicles. Last week, a defense trade show, the two firms showed off the results of their joint venture.

Se puede ver en este articulo como los avances tecnologicos no siempre son buenos para la sociedad, en este caso, a traves de un robot que puede disparar muchisimas balas por minuto, que militar y tecnologicamente son un avance importante, pero no socialmente.

YouTube suit called threat to online communication
May 26, 11:05 PM EDT

A $1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit challenging YouTube's ability to keep copyrighted material off its popular video-sharing site threatens how hundreds of millions of people exchange all kinds of information on the Internet, YouTube owner Google Inc. said.
Google's lawyers made the claim in papers filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan as the company responded to Viacom Inc.'s latest lawsuit alleging that the Internet has led to "an explosion of copyright infringement" by YouTube and others.
Me parece interesante porque esta nota demuestra como paginas como youtube u otras generan conflictos legales en la sociedad.

x-Channel Format Could Allow Mixing and Karaoke on MP3 Players
By Eliot Van Buskirk May 27, 2008 1:15:57 PM

A Korean company called Audizen has developed a six-channel digital audio format called MT9 that gives the listener way more control over how their music is mixed and enables the real-time creation of a karaoke backing track.
Normal MP3 players let you emphasize different aspects of a song or album by adjusting the EQ and balance, but MT9 takes the concept to the next level, allowing users to raise and lower the volume of up to six separate tracks containing voice or instruments.
Me parecio que este articulo muestra claramente los avances de la tecnologia en los ultimos anios, y este es un producto (el MT9) que realmente me interesa, porque tiene funciones que yo usaria.
